Museum for Black Girls - Houston

October 2021, We had an opportunity to make a quick getaway trip to Houston Texas during this brief weekend trip we were able to visit the Selfie Museum for Black Girls.

I was too excited to have the opportunity. See how I learned about this place was through an Instagram post I once saw. Well one of my friends on Instagram visited a place called the Museum for Black Girls and I instantly felt like I needed to visit that place and when I looked it up the location was Denver Colorado. Denver was not on my radar so I figured I would only just visit the place in photographs online through their Instagram page. Well, that was all well and good until they announced that they were going to be doing a pop-up in Houston Texas. Seeing that I was frequenting Houston all 2021 I knew the next time I had a chance to visit the Museum for Black Girls was on the list of places to visit.

Just like that the quick trip to Houston we were able to visit the Museum and I was able to take boatloads of photos enjoyed the staff and we even were invited back for an Insecure viewing party.

The fun thing about that is … I was in town just as the season 5 premiere of Insecure started So this was a Win-Win for this weekend trip!

The Selfie Museum I was able to visit to celebrate Black Girls as well as a Viewing Party of one of My favorite shows !!!!

Heaven is when all things you love really come together!

Remembering Yesterday- 40/40 Birthday Celebration

The 40/40 Club Celebration

The year was 2010 and I was totally feeling myself… I had received my event planners certificate the year prior I was shipping party décor nationwide and I was shooting wide range of social events, So when my hair dresser Valencia (Styles By Vee) approached me to assist in planning her husband’s 40th surprise birthday party I was all in.  We went over all that I can do.. This what I call The total package, planning, arranging vendors photography and party supplies. So we went to work to put on an event that is still one of the best memories of putting on a great party. Valencia and I spent weeks planning preparing and doing site visits to secure both location and other details (cake and table rentals) We secured Aj’s Catering for the food Hair salon for the venue DJ 6five  as the Dj Bliss for the Cake and we took care of the rest.

For the Invitations – We decided to go with a Jay-z reasonable doubt album cover look

We arranged for a impromptu  photo shoot at their private home and we capture some images one for the invitations the others to be used as a part of the decorations.

Invitations Sent Party ready… It was ShowTime. We worked feverishly to get everything ready and to open up the doors and let the party people in…. Food Folks Fun… It was a night to remember the Dj kept the music pumping… Aj had an amazing spread of great food… I was manning our open air photo booth which everyone was coming by to take allot of fun pictures. Valencia husband was so surprised and overwhelmed at how his wife had secretly put this thing together with all the thoughts and details

It made for a great night a memorable party Most definitely one for the record books.

We were exhausted but it was totally worth it…. Can’t wait to do it again!!!

Remembering Yesterday- Hello Khalilah Baby Shower

The year was 2013 and we were over the moon excited that my niece was pregnant with her 1st child. Our whole family celebrated  the news. As time went on  we knew that we wanted to throw her a nice shower.

Once my niece found out she was having a girl and she began to love Hello Kitty… and since she had already picked out her daughters name (Khaliah) we decided to play on the name… Hello Khali ( that was the name she was planning to call her for short.

Well as life would have it .. we planned the shower and Khali couldn’t wait to make her entrance in the world… so we still move forward with the shower the baby would just be in attendance.

We had a wonderful intimate celebration of baby with very close family friends and small group of family members which included grandma and grandpa who were over the top excited.

Since that time Khali has continued to bring lots of smiles and joy to our family!!!

Remembering Yesterday-Cameron's Bikini Bottom Bash

The year was 2010 and my little guy was turning three and he was totally into Spongebob Square pants. The best thing we could do for him was to throw him a Bikini Bottom Bash... and invite all his friend and family to participate in the celebration. 

We started this celebration by announcing his party in style by customizing a party invitation that would set the tone for the party. 

We then created customized theme party decorations that included large images pin wheels, centerpieces banners and cupcake toppers. 

We next secured a small conference room at the local hotel. 

Welcome to our Bikini Bottom Snack Bar. We filled up our bar with cheese puffs, fish crackers and pretzels. 

Our photo booth area was created using a Sponge Bob Theme plastic table cloth. We hung it up on the wall and added a few props for the guest to take pictures. Party Tip: Print up guest pictures after party to give as a thank you keepsake from the celebration. 

Guest enjoyed dance routine by :  Swag Out Dance Crew (His big brother,Cousin and friends)

Activities included: Coloring Book Pages, Board Games and Plug and Play Spongebob Video Game
